hah. hari ini take 2 exam di kantor. rame-rame seruangan, tapi ngerjainnya ya individually lah. orang-orang udah pada komplen soal exam ini, malesin banget soalnya, 100 soal multiple choice 2 jam non-stop. passing rate 80%. tapi ya no choice loh.. tetep harus take dan kalo fail harus ngulang.

asli suasananya ga kondusif banget. ruangannya anget gitu, berisik, rusuh.. ga bisa konsen deh. untungnya open book.. ada manual yg bisa dicontek. better still, ada soft copy jadi tinggal copy, paste & search, hahaha.. intinya selama exam gue 'cuma' mindahin bahan dari manual ke lembar jawaban tanpa lewat otak..

tapi after-exam effectnya gak kalah dahsyat dibanding exam essay 3 jam yg kudu ditulis tangan. laper banget gila. untung aja pass on first attempt.. kalo engga bisa mabok deh ngulang2 lagi. huhuhuh..

hmh. satu assignment lagi berlalu. current status, 2 reports and 1 more presentation to go. data mining assignment ternyata super mematikan. bikin frustasi. asli. ga boong.

met high school friends in orchard. planned to have our lunch at crystal jade kitchen but the queue was too long. moved to pepper lunch, but only tables for 2 were available. lazy to wait, we moved to wheelock place and settled in simplelife. just read the review in the magazine yesterday, and it wasn't that impressive. it is basically selling hawker centre food with restaurant ambience. some of the dishes are nasi lemak, crayfish laksa, seafood kwayteow, fried rice, hainanese chicken rice. I ordered gado gado for $6.90 and grass jelly drink for $2.90. I agree with the reviewer.

my jumbo-sized water bottle is a very good conversation starter in the water cooler area. even those whom I barely know commented "wah, your water bottle so big one, ah?" =) that's the most frequently asked question. other concerns raised were, can I put my hand inside for washing, can I put hot water in it, where did I get it from, etc.. another possible explanation is because I occupy the water cooler longer..

was assigned to interview a candidate this morning. wasn't very impressed for the unsatisfactory answers he gave for the version difference and the reason for using outer join.

salah satu team-mate gue ada yang bermental manager asli. dari pilihan kata katanya itu loh, ga nahanin banget. serasa dia bosnya gue pesuruhnya gitu. buat assignment ecommerce (bosen kan, ecommerce mulu, blom due nih..), gue bikin applicationnya, beresin appearancenya, permak reportnya, nyediain ER diagram, flowchart sama SQL statements. yg ga gue pegang cuma satu: user manual. dari awal tuh enak aja dia maen suruh suruh ini itu. skarang pas udah ampir beres aja, submit report sama upload files ke web server suruh gue juga.. mau jadi apa sih tu orang? kayaknya ini udah bisa gue anggep jadi individual project deh.. =S

one more presentation is over. another one to go at the end of this month. they seem to have this new rule that makes presentation a compulsory item in each subject. it really looks like additional burden for us in preparation part and additional boredom for us in attending class full of presentation sessions.. *yawn* that's why I left before the class was officially over just now.

I'm currently reading the belgariad series by david eddings. was sceptical at the beginning, and was surprised to find myself enjoying the first book, pawn of propechy. sure will continue to the next one, queen of sorcery, followed by magician's gambit, castle of wizardry, and enchanter's end game.

the choir sang really badly today that even the priest himself came to us after the mass.. the 'new' conductor is trying to improve the quality and an unavoidable part of it is of course a longer practice session. I can still tolerate that, considering we have been having the shortest practice sessions compared to other choirs, but not when I'm asked to come earlier to mass, like 8.25 on sunday mornings.

watched 'creep' the movie. a weird show, basically just trying to scare the audience without sufficient background info given. maybe they're planning to make creep the sequel.

took the cab from mrt station to home, which is only 10 minutes of walk because of the heavy rain. paid $2.50 for it, but saved myself few hours as the rain didn't stop until evening.

astaga. gue udah terima 3 email forward-an soal kerancuan lagu anak-anak. emailnya bilang, beberapa lagu anak2 itu mengandung kesalahan, mengajarkan kerancuan dan menurunkan motivasi (duh formal amat yak bahasanya). total ada 7 lagu yang dibahas: balonku ada 5, aku seorang kapiten, bangun tidur ku terus mandi, naik ke puncak gunung, naik kereta api, burung kutilang, & belalang kupu-kupu.

kalo gue bilang, yg bikin email itu kurang kerjaan. aneh2 aja, lagu anak anak sih dikomplen. komplen paling absurd tuh yang buat lagu balonku ada 5. dia bilang kayak gini: "Balonku ada 5, rupa-rupa warnanya, merah, kuning, kelabu, merah muda dan biru, meletus balon hijau, dor!" trus komennya: "Perhatikan warna-warna kelima balon tsb, kenapa tiba2 muncul warna hijau ? Jadi jumlah balon sebenarnya ada 6, bukan 5.."

eleh eleh.. warna balon di lagu balonku bukannya "hijau kuning kelabu, merah muda dan biru" yah?

intinya, gue lebih kurang kerjaan lagi. udah jelas email gak jelas kayak gitu, masih juga dibahas.. ;) kalo ada yg blom baca emailnya, silaken request, dgn senang hati gue fwd-in deh..

Selain convenience, bawa-bawa handphone skarang juga udah jadi social responsibility. Hari ini hape gue ketinggalan di rumah (lagi). Pengalaman ketinggalan bbrp kali asik asik aja, gak bermasalah. Jadi tadi pagi pas jalan ke mrt dan nyadar kalo hape gak di tas, gue cuek aja, terlalu malas buat jalan balik.

Malemnya pas sampe rumah.. baru deh berasa. gue kudu say sorry ama beberapa orang. Nyokap yang cemas gara2 smsnya tak berbalas. Satu temen yang frantically nyari2 gue gara2 gue ninggalin message 'urgent' di YMnya tanpa penjelasan lebih lanjut (sori ya bu, abisan saya buru-buru.. =p). Dua temen yg minta gue nemuin mereka di lab buat urusan assignment. huhuhu..

Btw, belakangan kadar 'males' gue makin kronis. Buat lunch-in, gue prefer makan di kantin terdekat daripada jalan ke gedung sebelah yg kata orang-orang 'sekalian refreshing'. Buat dinner kalo pas weekend dan stuck di rumah, gue terlalu malas buat masak, malas turun kebawah buat beli. jadi? Makan instant noodle. Sayang gue masih terlalu malas buat nyuci panci, piring dan garpu. jadilah gue makan instant cup noodle..

yak.. selama kelas tadi gue malah sibuk sendiri nge-debug ecommerce yg udah dikerjain dgn keringat dan air mata selama weekend kemaren. ada aja masalah pas diconvert ke oracle. anyway skrg udah beres dan gue tinggal 'shake legs' nungguin yg laen bikin report & user manual..

ada satu orang nyentrik di kelas. dia hobi banget nanyain orang orang sekitar dia soal assignment. misalnya, udah ngerjain belom, kalo udah dia bakal drill down ke detailnya inilah itulah. pokoknya bete deket2 dia kalo pas minggu2 terakhir, bikin tambah pusing. dari awal gue selalu take 'humble' approach (heheheh), jawab seadanya aja, bilang blom bikinlah, bingunglah, etc etc yg bikin dia tenang dikit gitu. nah.. belakangan ini gue sengaja aja, kalo ditanya dah bikin belom, gue jawab udah kelar. kalo ditanya udah review lect notes blom, gue jawab gue selalu review. muahahahah.. tapi ampuh tuh, abis dijawab kayak gitu dia ga nanya2 lebih lanjut.. =)

trus satu lagi, tiap hari senen malem selalu sms gue minta titip tanda tangan buat attendance list. orang yang aneh. kalo segitu concernnya sama attendance, kenapa ga dateng aja, coba. berani madol sih ga berani tanggungjawab.

apa ya bahasa inggris yang pas buat 'pai seh' (hokkian), 'bu hao yi si' (mandarin), 'ga enak ati' (indo bhs sehari-hari), 'sungkan' (jawa)? preferably in one word.. =)

.. finally finished the ecommerce thingy.. after hours of slogging myself in front of the pc this weekend.. *wipe sweat* this is a very unfair assignment, it's just impossible to be done in a group. the only solution is to split the work into development and documentation, which is also difficult since those doing documentation may have a hard time understanding what's going on in the developer's mind. and not to mention the timing constraint.

time to reward myself with few hours of movies.. =)

had a nice dimsum lunch at CJ, CWP. the first dish that we ordered was my all time fave: bbq pork pastry. a meaty filling with fluffy hot pastry that melt in your mouth.. yum.. *drooling* we tried a new dish today, durian puff. equally sinful and gratifying.

been busy with assignments lately. have not had a decent, long sleep for quite some time. things will continue to be the same or even worse at least until end of oct.

and I still play online games.. =p this game is about figuring your way out of a place in order to get your lost memory back. warning: it's addictive.

one bank is having a very happening promotion in the office. they arranged for lunch talk that came with free nasi-lemak-in-a-box and door gift. other gifts include $50 cash, complimentary massage, soft toy in the form of red flat cat, red water bottle and mini calculator, depending on what you sign up for. they deployed a lot of staff to our office corridors, and they do what they normally do in orchard road: distributing brochures and trying to persuade people to sign up. most of them are very young and they don't seem to know very well about the promotion packages. and since our corridors are far shorter than orchard road, during our walk to the canteen today we had to say no once every few metres. this is definitely much worse since they know very well that every employee is entitled to the offers. whereas in orchard rd, they judge people by appearances.. once you look lousy, you're safe =)

went for 2 friends' wedding celebrations, both the holy matrimony as well as the reception. one is at a catholic and another at presbyterian church. it does not differ too much, in terms of the vows exchanged by the couples. but I'm still curious on why they use 'I will' instead of 'I do', like those shown in hollywood movies.

managed to bring a digicam and asked all comp engine people to take a picture together. hey, it wasn't an easy task, okay.. everyone's so busy with the food, catching-up and stuff. it will be fun if we can compare this with photos we took few years back just before convocation, but too bad not everyone's present.
