finally had the chance to visit colbar at whitchurch road this afternoon after choir practice in west area. heard about this eatery a few years ago, planned to go there with ibu ini but never managed to do so given its remote location.

the wessex estate resides in a cool, cozy neighbourhood with lots of greenery. a few eateries can be found here. colbar, short term of colonial bar was initially located on jalan hang jebat, before it was rebuilt in its current location.

ordered chicken curry and a plate of wedges, bacon, sausages and eggs. for drinks we had orange squash and pineapple juice. their price was quite steep, given the type of food, but it's tasty. the curry chicken was super rich and flavourful with tender chicken pieces.

had dentist appointment this afternoon for scaling & polishing. turned out 2 teeth needed filling as well.. *sigh*.. now at least I can make full use of my company's dental claim =p

went to pulau punggol barat & timur in the evening. cool weather with cloudy sky. managed to get a glimpse of the pretty sunset before the sun was swallowed whole by the thick clouds.

dinner was at jalan kayu's roti prata. had chicken briyani, prata kosong and teh tarik. yum!

we had lunch at NTU today! haha.. it was a suitable venue as we needed lunch in between choir practices, the earlier one was at SFA church and the later was at choa chu kang. six of us whizzed along the familiar roads, enjoying the greenery while making all kinds of nostalgic comments.

we were thinking of going to canteen A initially, as I wanted to pay a visit to north spine and see how it looks like now. but a quick check with the current students told us we better off looking for food at hall of residences, as today's sunday.

went to canteen 1 - it still looked exactly the same! maybe they did some repainting but that's all. the food didn't look appetizing. so we walked to canteen 2, which looked a little bit different. they are now called bus stop canteen, what a weird name. so we settled there with penang char kway teow, rice with diced chicken and chili, hor fun and roasted pork rice. had drinks and also snow ice for dessert. not bad.

maybe one day we'll pay another visit. I heard they now have sakae sushi and subway - on top of mcD.

had dim sum for high tea at mouth restaurant, toa payoh. ordered the usual favorites. 5 different plates were enough to make us stuffed. quite nice, but I still think crystal jade does a better job for dim sum.

bought this painting in old quarter, hanoi last august. promised myself to look for a suitable frame but the procrastinator in me kept postponing it.

finally yesterday I took its measurements, and this evening bought a square dark frame at ikea. had to cut away a few inches from the sides, and now it hangs nicely on the wall. mission accomplished :)

I just don't understand why people would want to spill their guts on social network sites, basically broadcasting it to everyone to see.

but then, the world will be such a boring place if everyone thinks the way I do.

so, bring it on!

went to first choir practice for friends' wedding this coming month. the conductor was wearing a bright red polo shirt with a significant logo - GTD8 - that quickly became our object of scrutiny. we were like.. omg, is that GTD8? I asked him what year that polo was printed for.. it was for year 2006, and he's already in final year now.

as a member of GTD1 committee, I felt super old... but was also grateful that there's a 'legacy' passed on..
had a busy and fun saturday! blogging it now at 2:51am, accompanied by sunday morning - maroon 5 playing on iTunes.

woke up at 9.30am, got ready and off we went to our friends' house. we were pressed for time and I took a wrong turn.. luckily the road's empty. reached at about 11am with the bride-to-be greeting us in front of the elevator :)

the ROM officers came later than us, so we're saved :p after a round of introduction, the short ceremony started. we were the unofficial photographers there, and it's not easy being one.

vows spoken, rings exchanged, papers signed.. and congratulations! =)

had some snack at their house (pastel, kue lapis, mooncake), before heading out to yunnan garden restaurant at NTU alumni club.

four of us went to the cathay to catch inglorious basterds at 4pm. it was so quentin tarantino, starting from the beginning all the way till the end. there were quite a lot of conversations though, less actions compared to kill bill.

had waffle plus ice cream at ben & jerry after the 2.5 hour movie, complete with a live band entertaining us.

met a few other friends for dinner at house of soto, east coast road. it's our 4th time there! ordered soto ayam, mie soto ayam, nasi goreng jakarta, pindang udang, ayam kalasan and otak-otak. the otak-otak wasn't as expected, they looked more like lumpia goreng instead. the sauce could pass, but the otak-otak couldn't make it. nasi goreng jakarta was so-so, it was too sweet - I should've asked for a little bit of chili. my friend commented that the ayam kalasan was great, the taste wasn't only skin deep.

went back to our place and we had a round of power grid board game! compared to citadels, this required more thinking as you need to get your strategy right, plus some math to count the money :) since we bought the game, we've never played it all the way till the end (phase 3) until tonight.. it took us around 3 hours straight. it was quite slow at the beginning as we needed to recall all the rules plus explaining them. but after a few tries we got used to it..
