A trip to Bintan

a great combination: a breezy day, sea view chalet, a hammock, a novel and a pair of shades.

went to bintan for a short getaway this weekend. the indera bupala ferry was jam packed with all sorts of people and stuff they carried. the sea was not in its best mood and so quite a number of passengers were down with seasickness. heard lots of unpleasant noise as they move whatever was in their stomach to the blue plastic bags distributed generously.

initially we booked one cabana at the beach club but when we arrived there to check in, lo and behold, the manager told us that they wanted to give us a free upgrade to a more spacious chalet at nearby mayang sari beach resort. wohooo!

the resort was great. they have several hotels in the resort compound and guests could travel around using the internal shuttle bus. each hotel has its own restaurant and facilities. due to the strong current and wind, however, those sea-related activities were not available. so we spent the day touring around the vicinity.

all in all, service was fantastic. but the food was not really memorable. lots of variety but the taste was another story. and everything was really in SGD, although credit card transactions would be shown in rupiah.
