finally went out and tried wimbly lu, the chocolate cafe at jalan riang on this balmy afternoon.

the cafe looked deserted from outside, but once we stepped in, it was obvious the place's brimming with people. there was no empty table except for the one outside, so we waited for about 10 mins before we were seated.

among the many tempting choices, we went with root beer cake with vanilla ice cream, waffle with salted caramel ice cream plus toffee sauce, and iced mocha. I just had to try the waffle since it sounds like everyone's raving about it.

the first one out was the root beer cake with vanilla ice cream. served inside a martini glass, it looked intriguing. a slice of brown colored cake topped with chocolate sauce, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream at its side. we each took a bite and we were sold. the root beer flavor was infused nicely in the cake, and the vanilla ice cream was a winner.

nothing much we could comment on the iced mocha, though. it tasted just like the usual mocha drink one could get from boxed sachets of mocha ready-to-serve drinks.

the waffle was served last. it was perfectly browned, crisp on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. no stopping till the last bite. the salted caramel ice cream was great too, although I guess vanilla ice cream would taste better as it got too sweet when coupled with toffee sauce.

the staff were pleasant and courteous during our visit and the service was great. food was served quickly. and there is free flow of ice water, self-service.

I'll be back for more. at least to try their molten lava cake :)
