had our lunch at arbite this afternoon. it was not difficult to decide on the venue, thanks to the raving reviews and its proximity from home. serangoon garden always exudes this homey feel, though it's usually bustling with people. we reached right when everyone seems to be going out for lunch. after a few unlucky rounds looking for empty slot to park we finally went in to myVillage and left the car there, grateful for the complimentary valet service.

the restaurant was located at the second level of the shop houses row, next to sushi tei and hsbc. the walls beside the staircase were adorned with carvings, said to be done by the previous tenant. when arbite took over, they decided to keep the carvings and add some lego blocks on them. it gave a nice touch.

we reached when it was full. luckily a table was cleared quite quickly so we could be seated to scour through the menu. the uniqueness of their dishes more or less made up for the limited choices of main course. they also offer all day breakfast, which is a plus point. too bad I was not in the mood for breakfast.

we ordered japanese curry pulled pork wrap and grilled moroccan chicken. the wrap came with 2 big potato croquettes, very tasty with smooth texture. I did not really fancy the wrap itself, though. the moroccan chicken was really good. it's bursting with flavour, nicely paired up with pilaf rice and salad. the portions were just nice - fulfilling without making us too full for dessert.

they scored high points for service - warm and friendly. also for free ice water, given first thing without being asked - big plus point. they gladly offered to top up our tea pot too. my only complaint was the crammed seating area which allowed little room between tables. couldn't help to overhear what the couple next to us was discussing.

oh, we had ice cream at udders for dessert :p
