A Desaru Weekend

This weekend getaway had been planned since the longest time. It was then tentatively cancelled but in the end we still managed to go :)

Stopped by Johor Premium Outlets en route to Desaru. It's a vast place with various well-known brands being sold, but unfortunately their prices were on the premium side too despite the name. So we just browsed for a little while and had a quick lunch before continuing our journey.

The newly opened E22 highway allows faster access to Desaru.

Welcome to Desaru

Our first impression upon arrival was the vastness of the resort. We stayed in block S, which was right at the back of the resort, a short drive away from the reception area and front gate. Buggies were used to ferry guests within the vicinity.

We booked a 2 bedroom unit that had living area with dining table, pantry and balcony. The buildings looked a little run down, but our unit was alright - clean and well equipped.

Main attraction for kids was its waterpark, located in the middle of the resort. The scorching weather on a Saturday and the fact that the park was also open for public explained the crowd we saw that day. The park was quite big, with children water playground, shallow pool, mini waterfall, lazy river, and a cafe smack in the middle of it all.

We had our breakfasts at Teratai@Seaview, buffet style serving standard breakfast menu plus some local fares like nasi lemak, rendang ayam and fried kway teow. Our dinner at Rhu Bar was good, accompanied by live music and cool ocean breeze. We also tried the resort's delivery service by ordering pizzas and they're yummy with generous amount of mozzarella cheese. Yums!

It was raining almost the whole day on Sunday, so our visit to fruit farm was limited to shopping for fruits since farm tour under the rain did not sound so enticing. Fruits were good, although the prices were not exactly cheap.

Had our lunch that day at Sungai Rengit, which was famous for its seafood fares. As we did not have any particular restaurant in mind, we just followed the crowd by choosing a place bustling with people. And the Jade restaurant did not disappoint :p

Food, glorious food
