[Perth Trip] Day 1: Singapore - Perth

It's traveling time again! This time we did it rather differently. Destination: Western Australia. Self drive, family-oriented itinerary to suit the 2 families.

Our flight SQ225 departed from Changi Terminal 3 at 1:10am. We arrived at Changi quite early, giving ample time as it was our first time lugging a baby around for a flight. The airport was really packed, most of the crowd was Japanese, and even some of the public announcements were spoken in Japanese.

It took us about 5 hours before we reached Perth International Airport at 6:15am. As it was midnight, baby was asleep most of the time. But he hates being put in the bassinet as he usually sleeps on his stomach while bassinet is so fitting thus allowing him no room for turning over. So I ended up carrying him.

Upon arrival we cleared immigration, collected our luggage and strollers, and took Connect Transfer minibus to our hotel. We stayed for 2 nights at Comfort Hotel Perth City - basic accommodation with clean rooms at affordable rates, and most importantly it had its own car park.

2 sleep-deprived nights (baby woke up every 2 hours on the night before our flight) made us slightly exhausted and in no real mood for sightseeing. So we decided to do some city tour while the other family went for day trip to Yanchep National Park.

First we took the free Red CAT bus to CBD, then we walked to Bell Tower and Barrack Jetty. Went up to the tower to see live demonstration of the bells being rung, and we got to try ringing them too. They were seriously heavy.

Lunch was at Coffee Club, we had garlic & cheese pizza bread and ham & pineapple turnover.

We walked to St Mary's Cathedral for sunset mass, as it's located near our hotel. The cathedral still retained its traditional facade, roof, arches and all, although some parts had been renovated to have the modern look & feel.

We had kebab for dinner, bought in a shop next to our hotel.
