Tried Big Ben's Place at Opera Estate this evening for dinner. The last time we went it was closed - we did not know it closes every Monday. Apparently there are quite a number of promotions going on: 1-for-1 main course from one bank and 10% off from two others.

We decided not to order the main course as I heard they serve authentic British pies. I am not fit to judge its authenticity, but the pie was definitely good. Not very fantastic, but great. The pastry was fluffy and not dry, although the size was quite small.

They sell the pies alone at $4 each with quite a few flavours to choose from. As set meal ($7.60), we could choose 2 side dishes. We tried their beef & cheese and black pepper chicken pie with house salad, calamari and mashed potato. The side dishes were flavourful too, especially the calamari.

Service was also good. No service charge, no GST, free flow of ice/warm water. I guess we'll be back some other time to try their main courses, before the 1-for-1 promo ends ;)
