[Europe Trip] Day 2

Started our morning super early as our bodies were still in GMT+8 timezone. However there was an old lady who beat us as the first one occupying a table for breakfast. On the menu: scrambled egg, crispy bacon, various bread, cake, cheese and ham, cereals, fruits, juice, tea and coffee. My favorite: corn flakes + raisins + lots of whole hazelnuts in a bowl of fresh milk. Super yum.

We took U-bahn to Schloss Schonbrunn and went around the palace on our own, using the provided audio guide. It's so much better compared to following a group tour.

We also visited the nearby labyrinth garden. It took us some time to get to the platform from the entrance, after which we could easily spot a way out to get out from the maze.

Next on the list: Vienna zoo (Tiergarten Schonbrunn). As one of the oldest zoos, it lived up to its name. The animals, the layout of the place, were great. We met some pandas there too, although they were busy napping. Another happy species was the penguins.. and the seal was singing noisily to the visitors.

Had our lunch at Kaiser pavillon inside the zoo. Managed to get a table inside, as I didn't really fancy an alfresco dining in that temperature. We ordered wiener schnitzel and sausages in goulash sauce.

The palm house and desert house were not as exciting. So off we went to National History Museum for a museum visit.

We walked pass Mariahilfer Strasse only to find out that all shops were closed on Sunday except cafes. So we went back instead to Stephenplatz. Came across Peterskirsche by chance.

We bought food back to our cozy hotel room for dinner: fried rice (in Chinese take-away box!) and kebab box.
