Played a tourist this weekend by visiting the brand new Marine Life Park at RWS on Saturday and taking the river taxi along Singapore river on Sunday.

Did a little research on Friday night and found most reviews said Marine Life Park is very crowded especially during weekends. One even recommended going to Underwater world instead for better experience. So plan B was prepared - Port of Lost Wonder.

We arrived at around 10.45 and the queue at ticketing counter wasn't so bad, so we went ahead. Entrance to Maritime Experiential Museum (MEMA) is included in the Marine Life Park tickets. During off-peak period, entrance to Typhoon Theatre is included as well.

MEMA does not sound interesting from its description. But entrance to the aquarium is located right in the middle of MEMA building so we had to pass by the museum anyway. It turned out the museum's quite good, with intriguing displays and many interactive activities for kids.

At MEMA
The aquarium was impressive, especially the huge floor-to-ceiling glass panel, dubbed to be the largest oceanarium in the world. There are 3 platforms of different heights installed for viewing pleasure. I suppose sitting in front of the giant panel can be therapeutic, provided there isn't many people obstructing the view.

There are many educational descriptions too regarding the species in display. I didn't read them all but I guess marine enthusiasts will appreciate them better :)

At Marine Life Park
On Sunday afternoon we took the river taxi from Clarke Quay to Merlion. What could be more touristy than that, eh?

Waiting for the river taxi

Waited for 20 mins for the river taxi to arrive, as most of the boats are allocated for river cruise whose route is longer and rate more expensive. For being the first one that stand on the line we got the best seats: the benches at the back of the boat :)

Now, there's nothing new with the view, really. The Fullerton, CBD, MBS, floating platform, Esplanade.. but at least the point of view is unique.
